When Is Obon 2024. It’s like the japanese dia de muertos, i jokingly tell my friends. The tokushima awa odori is held from august 12th to 15th as part of the area's obon festival (a japanese buddhist festival that honors the spirits of ancestors).

However, it roughly corresponds to august according to the formerly used lunar calendar. The date may have subtle differences.
